On the 70th Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan.
Thank you, Nanna, for this beautiful peace globe. She wrote....
"I will write "Peace" on your wings, and you will fly all over the world". ~Sadako Sasaki 12 yrs old~
Sadako was a 2 yr old living near Hiroshima when it was bombed. By the time, she was 12, she became terminally ill from radiation. She was told if she folded 1,000 paper cranes, she would get well. Although she only folded 500, her classmates finished the task. There is a statue of her now in the city and another in Oregon. The schoolchildren annually fold and hang thousands of paper origami crane leis on the statue.
